Founders Grove

We went for a very short trip up to Humboldt Co. We visited with family and I got to see an old friend who is fighting cancer. We stopped at a state park on the way that has some of the old growth Redwood trees. It was a nice walk though the forest. Russ and I told the kids stories of when we were kids and how we played in forest just like these ones. The tree fell down and this is part of the massive root system.

The girls were amazed at how tall the trees were and had a very hard time describing it to others. The plaques said the oldest tree is thought to be 1600 years old.
